African Prints and Textiles in the Home

In December 2019, we had the wonderful opportunity to work with two fellow Black, female-owned businesses: Ofori & Co., a boutique real estate sales & investment company based in DC and Baltimore; and Nicole Decor, a Baltimore-based studio that specializes in home staging, interior design, and photography.

Ofori & Co. renovated and sold this property, which is located in Remington, one of Baltimore’s hottest neighborhoods. The company describes its design philosophy as “contemporary and functional while staying true to the neighborhood's aesthetic.” It is dedicated to making space that fosters community-building, creativity and collaboration.

Similarly, Nicole Decor aims to curate spaces that allow the buyer to experience the home at its best. She decorated the home with a mixture of her own art and products from local small businesses, including ours. Nicole Decor styled the open kitchen and dining area with AFROTHREADS Adinkra Coasters, which symbolize friendship and democracy.

We worked with her to create the orange napkins seen in the first few pictures, using our South African Shweshwe fabric.

Finally, Nicole Decor used our handmade Nigerian Batik fabric to make a bedskirt and matching pillow for the master bedroom. She also took all of the images.
